|
The L-29 is a two-seat jet basic and advanced trainer powered by one M-701c-500 turbojet engine. The L-29 jet trainer has all metal monocoque structure fuselage of circular section. A space for two flight crew members sitting in tandem arrangement is provided in the fuselage front section. |
|
The aircraft is a cantilever mid-wing monoplane with a single main spar at 40% chord. Aircraft has all metal ailerons and hydraulically operated Fowler flaps. The elevator is attached on the top of the rudder assembly. The aircraft has dual control by means of the control sticks and push-pull rods. |
| The landing
gear is of rigid structure enabling operations from concrete runways as well as grass of
sand fields. The landing gear is retractable tricycle type. The nose gear is
retracted into the forward fuselage. The main gear is attached to the main spar of
the center wind section and retracts inward into the fuselage. A hydraulic system
provides for operation of the landing gear, wing flaps, and speed breaks. The M701c-500 engine is installed in the fuselage rear section. The engine mounting is attached by means of hinges to the fire wall, which also provides for the joint of the fuselage center and rear sections. The inlet air is ducted through two ducts which terminate into a single air intake. The air inlets are situated in the wing leading edge on both sides of the fuselage. Fuel is fed from two main tanks located behind the pilots cabin with two external auxiliary tanks mounted one under each wing. Th pilots cabin is fully pressurized, air conditioned, and heated. Pilots have access to oxygen and facilities for anti-g suits to curb the effects of gravity during maneuvering flight. |
